MEDITERRANEAN, CRADLE OF BIODIVERSITY. PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE USE OF MARINE AND TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS.
MEDFEST aims to promote the Mediterranean’s biodiversity, which plays a crucial role in supporting healthy ecosystems and human well-being. By understanding and protecting this natural treasure, we safeguard our planet and ensure a thriving future for all.
AN ALLIANCE FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
MEDFEST, in partnership with WWF, CNR, National Biodiversity Future Center and MASE, promotes training and research projects for the protection of the Mediterranean.
Through workshops, scientific studies and educational programs, MEDFEST aims to inspire action by fostering a deeper understanding of the critical importance of marine and terrestrial biodiversity among institutions, companies and citizens.
This Alliance makes it possible to develop concrete initiatives o fight pollution, protect fragile habitats and promote sustainable resource management. A collective effort that combines science, education and innovation to ensure a greener and more resilient future for the Mediterranean and its communities.
The Mediterranean biodiversity represents 25% of global marine species diversity.

“The aim of the Project is to combine excellent Italian scientific research with the most innovative technologies, supporting monitoring, protection, restoration and enhancement of biodiversity, mainly marine, terrestrial ecosystems, fresh waters and urban areas”
President of the CNR,
Maria Chiara Carrozza.
The objectives of the project coordinated by the CNR (National Research Center) foresee, by 2030, a 30% recovery in the reduction of biodiversity and at least 15%
in terms of ecosystem balances, through ecological restoration actions of habitats.
