WORLD TOURISM DAY
World Tourism Day, which will be held on September 27, 2025 in Olbia during MEDFEST, represents an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the importance of tourism as a tool for growth, development and mutual understanding between different cultures. This year, MEDFEST not only honors this special day, but amplifies its meaning through the presence of ambassadors from 24 Mediterranean countries, thus creating a unique opportunity for intercultural dialogue and international cooperation.
The event stands out for its relevance not only at a global level, but also for the strong impact it will have on the territory and on future generations, thanks to the active involvement of more than 1000 children from Italian primary and secondary schools. The project, known as MED YOUNG, focuses on environmental education and sustainable tourism, crucial issues for the future of our planet. In a historical moment in which sustainability is at the center of the global debate, the involvement of so many young people in reflecting on the future of tourism becomes fundamental.

SCHOOLS AT THE HEART OF WORLD TOURISM
MED YOUNG is not only a training opportunity for young participants, but a catalyst to raise awareness in the entire Italian community about the role that each of us can play in protecting natural resources, promoting responsible tourism practices and supporting the local economy. Through workshops, laboratories and interactive activities, the young people will have the opportunity to understand the importance of TOURISM that respects the environment, local traditions and Mediterranean culture, which has always been a symbol of hospitality and exchange.
In addition to the educational component, the event will have a strong symbolic charge thanks to the participation of the ambassadors of the 24 Mediterranean countries. These representatives of the different nations will contribute with their messages of unity and cooperation, drawing attention to the need to promote tourism that fosters peace and understanding between peoples. The meeting of so many different cultures under the aegis of a common goal – sustainable and inclusive tourism – represents an unmissable opportunity to establish new relationships and strengthen cooperation in the Mediterranean basin.
The synergy between institutions, schools, ambassadors and families will help strengthen the collective commitment towards a more sustainable and conscious future.
THE SYNERGY BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS, SCHOOLS, AMBASSADORS AND FAMILIES STRENGTHENS THE COLLECTIVE COMMITMENT TO A SUSTAINABLE AND CONSCIOUS FUTURE
The involvement of families is another innovative aspect of the event. The participation of everyone, from the youngest to the adults, contributes to spreading a culture of shared responsibility. Families will not only be witnesses of a unique event, but also protagonists in transmitting to the new generations the importance of a tourism that respects the environment and people, protecting local traditions and promoting social and economic equity.
World Tourism Day in Olbia becomes, therefore, an opportunity for education, awareness and involvement of all members of the community, creating an ideal environment to build a shared and global vision of the future of tourism.
