Med Fest – Sardinia – Cagliari
MEDFEST aims to promote the Mediterranean’s biodiversity, which plays a crucial role in supporting healthy ecosystems and human well-being. By understanding and protecting this natural treasure, we safeguard our planet and ensure a thriving future for all.
The biological variety in all its forms, from microbes to plants and animals, up to the human species with its cultural diversities, is present in the Mediterranean, and particularly in Italy. This is an even more precious heritage, given that our country concentrates one of the most significant biological diversities in all of Europe, with 60,000 animal species, 10,000 vascular plants, and over 130 ecosystems.
The biodiversity of the Mediterranean represents, depending on the taxonomic groups, from 4 to 25% of the global marine species diversity.
MEDFEST is a unique event of in-depth analysis oriented towards “smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth” aimed at enhancing everything the territory has most to offer.
This aligns with the mission of the 2030 Agenda, which is directed towards development generated by every form of art and culture, oriented towards the long term and future generations.
“Protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.”
“Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage”
“By 2030, devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products”
“Develop and implement tools to monitor the impacts of sustainable development for sustainable tourism, which creates jobs and promotes local culture and products”
